With this home-made hand tool, you can easily and relatively quickly make flanging along the edge of the sheet metal. In terms of design, the device is very simple, so making it with your own hands will not be difficult.
Of the basic materials you will need: two pieces of steel pipe, two pieces of strip and a piece of plate. For fixing the main structural elements, ordinary bolts with nuts will be used, and you will also have to resort to welding.
The main stages of work
Two pieces of about 7 cm long must be cut from a steel strip 3-5 mm thick. Next, we weld them to a piece of steel pipe so that the gap between them is 10 mm. This is important because then a metal plate of the same thickness will be inserted between them.
The plate itself needs to be welded to the second piece of steel pipe. Previously, in the end part of the pipe, a grinder is cut. Then the two halves of the tool are connected to each other using bolts with nuts.
For this, two through holes must be drilled in the plate and in the sections of the steel strip. First you need to cut a small piece from the plate and make a cutout in it. A similar cut is made on the main part of the plate, and only then both parts are joined.
In the middle of the pipes, two pieces of the bolt are welded, on which the spring is worn - so the handles will constantly return to their original position. For a detailed manufacturing process of this tool, see the video on the site.
