A simple knife sharpener can be made from improvised inexpensive materials - for example, from a furniture rail. It can be bought at stores that specialize in the sale of furniture accessories and components.
Using such a home-made sharpener, you can sharpen a kitchen or hunting knife no worse than on factory devices. At the same time, a do-it-yourself fixture will cost less. A pair of furniture rails costs about 80-100 rubles (and Chinese ones will cost even less - about 40-60 rubles).
How to make a knife sharpener
The first step is to make a base for a homemade sharpener. To do this, you can use a piece of an inch board (or a piece of plywood) with a length of about 40-50 cm. To fix the furniture guide, at the edge of the board we fasten a small piece of about 5-7 cm long.
On the other side of the base is attached a supporting "table", which can be made of ordinary logs. Choose a log that pricks well, and chop off a small segment. And then cut it at an angle.
The result is a simple supporting "table" for the knife. All structural elements are fixed on self-tapping screws.
