If speed is important when machining metal parts that require fixing, a simple compact vice with an eccentric clamp is useful. They are convenient to use, and you can do them yourself. The device is quite universal, it is useful both in the home workshop and in the garage.
First, the master makes the workpieces necessary for work from the channel and corner. In the center of the corner drills a through hole. In the channel itself, it will also be necessary to make two holes that will indicate the edges of the future slot.
Next, the master cuts off two pieces of steel strip with a grinder. After that, with the help of a bolt, he screws a corner to the channel and, holding it in a vice, welds 2 strips on the sides. According to the idea, it is necessary to leave a free run for the movement of the corner with stripes along the channel.

For the next stage of work, you need a small billet of metal of a cylindrical shape - you can use the finished blank (if available) or cut a piece from an unnecessary part. In this case, the master lets the hammer head “into the flow”.
Then in the disc it will be necessary to drill a through hole offset from the center. To make a vice sponge, the master uses a plate with a thickness of 10-12 mm. They are fastened with bolts, but first you will need to drill holes with recesses at the edges.
We weld another corner to the channel, which will serve as the fixed clamp of the bench vice. In a cylindrical workpiece, you need to make a side hole and cut the thread in it. Next, the master screws the second jaw to the movable clamp.
At the last stage, the assembly of the structure and the installation of the eccentric clamp are performed. The handle is a long bolt that is screwed into the cylinder through a side threaded hole. Next, the vise stand is attached to the table surface using self-tapping screws.
Homemade vices are compact in size, clamp the workpieces and parts firmly enough! You can watch the detailed process of manufacturing a bench vise with an eccentric clamp in the video on our website.
