In the garage and home workshop, a drilling machine is an indispensable thing. And to facilitate drilling, marking is usually done on wooden workpieces or coring on metal.

However, for a more accurate drilling, it is desirable to acquire such a simple homemade product as a centering laser (or a homemade laser designer).

To make this device, you will need a laser (it can be ordered on Aliexpress), several batteries, a control panel (on and off), a glass rod, pieces of an aluminum square tube, several hardware and the drilling machine itself.

The main stages of work

First of all, you need to cut a piece of aluminum profile tube, a little more than the length of the laser. Next, we drill three holes in it at approximately equal distance from each other. We make one of the holes through. We increase the diameter of the hole in one of the sides.

Carefully remove the lens from the laser, and glue a suitable piece of glass stick. Next, install the tube into pieces of plywood with the help of a large and through holes on the screw. The second part is manufactured in a similar way.

The next step will be to install the lasers on the seats and neatly fix them with small bolts. Next, solder the contacts, connecting them in parallel, to the control panel with power.

To align the laser, it is necessary to drill a small diameter hole in any workpiece. And lower the chuck until the drill touches the hole. We center one axis with the help of plywood cubes, rotating them in a circle.
